After Truman was no longer a president, he supported the Truman Library, read, wrote, and took long walks. He wrote The Memoirs Vol. 1 and 2 ("Harry S. Truman"). He died December 26, 1972. His wife died October 18, 1982. They are buried beside each other in the Harry S Truman Library's courtyard ("Truman: HST Biography").
